This digital age has opened doors to an expansive universe of covers (reinterpreted versions) of songs, which, in times past, we would probably have remained unaware of their existence, assuming they had even been conceived. The ability to gain exposure online is not only a window to a global audience, but also a powerful catalyst for the art of music itself.
In my explorations, I have frequently come across covers that are true gems, authentic works of art that, in some cases, far surpass the original versions, since they not only manage to pay tribute to the classics, but also, on occasions, elevate the piece to new emotional and technical heights.

In recent weeks, a fragment of this video clip by AnnenMayKantereit (unknown to me to date) has become very popular on social networks such as TikTok or Instagram, in which they cover the song Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega, in which the Above all, Henning May's voice, which has nothing to do with his physical appearance a priori, but surprises and delights you in equal measure as soon as you start listening to it, and you can't stop.

But who are AnnenMayKantereit?
AnnenMayKantereit is a rock band originally from Cologne, Germany, known for their distinctive blend of rock, pop and folk elements, as well as the deep, raspy voice of vocalist Henning May. The band was formed in 2011 and consists of Henning May (vocalist and pianist), Christopher Annen (guitar and backing vocals), Severin Kantereit (drums) and Malte Huck (bass). AnnenMayKantereit began gaining attention for her street performances in Cologne before releasing her music more formally.
